Description:
This workshop will give you a hands-on overview of LinkedIn and other social media. 
By the end of the workshop, participants will understand how to develop a professional social networking identity as well as create an effective LinkedIn profile. Attendees will learn how to reach out, how to build and maintain professional relationships via social media, and will examine different ways to construct a professional online presence on LinkedIn.

Goal:
To build the foundations of a LinkedIn profile and understand the fundamentals of social networking.

Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
•    Construct a LinkedIn profile
•    Utilize strategies for presenting themselves as professionals online; and
•    Develop approaches for using LinkedIn and other social media to build and maintain professional relationships

Jean Branan received her bachelor’s degree in Anthropology as well as a Master of Arts in Education specializing in Postsecondary Education Leadership from San Diego State University. She provides career training programs and professional development opportunities to postdoctoral fellows and graduate students at The Scripps Research Institute’s California campus. With over fifteen years in higher education administration, human resources, and career services, Jean partners with faculty, staff and industry professionals. Her experience ranges from working within corporate environments to public, private and non-profit academic institutions and combines her human resources and higher education background to assist trainees with all aspects of professional development and the career search.
