Institut Curie has many Alumni who have done their master, PhD or post-doc at the institute, and who have afterwards proceeded to follow a range of career paths. We would like to introduce you to some of them.
The aim of this course is to provide an overview of epigenetic mechanisms and their links to gene expression and chromatin dynamics in different systems. The diverse functions of the nucleus involving the genome and its organization will be discussed with an emphasis on technological limits and the new experimental approaches being developed today. Links between the disruption of nuclear functions and the development of human pathologies will be discussed. This year, focus will be on reprogramming aspects during development and in disease with a special emphasis on cancer.
Main fields of interest of the course:
• Epigenetics and Chromatin Dynamics
• Imaging the Nucleus and its functions
• Silencing, transcriptional landscapes and genomics
• Memory of transcriptional states, stem cells and reprogramming
• Epigenetics: quantitative approaches and theoretical models
• Maintenance of (Epi)genome integrity
• Epigenetics and pathologies
Round table for the carrier development workshop
The success of the course relies on the contributions of participants who are expected to be proactive and to participate in all of the events organized including:
1. Presentation of their own scientific project with a poster
2. Participation in the Journal Club to both present and review key articles proposed by the speakers
3. Participation in the "career development" workshop during the Saturday morning and the "epi-Courses" such as the “Art & Science” workshop.
4. A special session will be devoted to 2 alumni students who have gone on to successful careers in the field of Epigenetics.
This course is part of the UE MU5BM460 of the Master BMC (Sorbonne Université for ECTS accreditation)
Evaluation will be based on performance during the Journal Club, poster presentation and active participation during the Course
