Epigenetics

14th edition

The success of the course relies on the active contribution of participants who are expected to be proactive and to participate in all of the events organized including:

  • presentation of their own scientific project with a poster
  • participation in the Journal Club to both present and review key articles proposed by the speakers,
  • participation to the "career development" workshop during the Saturday morning and the "epi-Courses" such as the “Art & Science” workshop.

A special session will be devoted to 2 or 3 alumni who have gone on to successful careers in the field of Epigenetics. Everything is in English.

Presentation

Objectives

The aim of this course is to provide an overview of epigenetic mechanisms and their link to chromatin dynamics. The different functions of the nucleus involving the genome and its organization will be discussed with an emphasis on technological limits and the new experimental approaches being developed today. Links between the disruption of nuclear functions and the development of human pathologies will be discussed.

Discussion & Workshops

  • Workshop Epigenetic Imagin(in)g.
  • Career Development Workshop organized on Saturday morning (March 10th) by the PhD students of the organizing units.

Selection Criteria

Selection based on applications.

If your PI would like to send us directly his recommendation letter, add a note at the PDF file named "waiting recommendation letter". To be eligible, we must receive it at the address of the course c.epigenetics2018 [at] curie.fr (c[dot]epigenetics2018[at]curie[dot]fr) before December 1st 2017.

Scientific papers selected within the main topics covered during the course will be sent to the accepted applicants who will present them during the course.

Poster session: this presentation is an integrated part of the training to communicate scientific work with accuracy in a critical manner and will involve all participants. For this, participants will prepare a poster describing their own research project that will be posted for discussion the 2nd day of the course.

Travel fellowships may be granted to the best presentations according to the budget of the course.
