1) To share with students challenges in adjusting the professional and personal time, on Wednesday evening we will organize a “Science and Life” dinner when the international speakers will join students over dinner to talk about their life in science, their achievements and their failures, good and bad moments in their career. We would like to hear about inspirations, satisfaction, motivations…but also about the challenges and difficulties in our jobs and how that reflects on our personal life.
2) Equal opportunities workshop: unconscious bias in science, LGBT+, gender balance - visibility, leadership and climbing the career ladder
In the evening, during dinner, the students will present their research in the format of 10 minutes of chalk talk using only a whiteboard (2 evenings).
To motivate students to interact with speakers, we will assign each speaker 2 students. Students will be expected to read recent papers from the speaker’s lab, introduce the speaker, chair questions after his/her talk, and serve as a guide/host for the speaker during the course.
30 participants
Candidates are selected based on the abstract describing their current work and 3 sentences-long motivation letter explaining why they want to participate to this course.
