8th Course: Cytoskeleton and Tissue Mechanics

Tissue Mechanics.
It will provide introductions to the main cytoskeleton networks as well as to the main knowledge in force generation and tissue mechanics and will cover general mechanisms of cytoskeleton functions, in the organization and the maintenance of tissue shape and mechanics in different conditions, systems and organs : during development, on monolayers, in gut homeostasis, in cancer and in the brain.

Objectives

The general objective of this 8th cytoskeleton course is to understand the role of the cytoskeleton in tissue mechanics at different levels: molecular, cellular and in the living organism.

Personal Work

On Saturday we will organize a workshop on career development with 3 or 4 speakers that are currently working at non-academic settings. In addition, one evening will be dedicated to “life and science” session where international speakers will join students over dinner to talk about their life in science, their achievements and their failures, good and bad moments in their career.

Each participant will give a 10 minute oral presentation of his/her work (maximum 3 power point slides) and he/she will have 5 minutes to answer questions.

Practical Informations

Practical Informations

For the 8th Edition of the Cytoskeleton course version, we have decided to merge the Cytoskeleton course and the Labex Celtisphybio course since the main topics and interest of these two courses are very similar and that the dates of the courses are very close. The course will be divided into two parts:

Form Wednesday to Saturday, this 1st part follows the spirit of Cytoskeleton: during the day we will have local speakers who will give 1h-2h talks and in the evening the students will present their work.On Saturday, we will organize career development workshop (please see "workshop" here under).

From Monday to Wednesday, the 2nd part follows the spirit of the Labex Celtisphybio course: international speakers will give a 1h talk, and short talks selected from abstracts will be given by participants. Others will present posters in 3 poster sessions.

There is no registration fee for this course

No registration fees are requested. Participants' home laboratories are responsible for paying for travel. We advise participants living outside Paris and its area to plan to arrive on Wednesday morning April 13th and depart not before Thursday April 21st in the morning.
