EU-Life 10th Anniversary Conference

We would like to invite you to submit your ideas and initiatives or let your imagination run free to imagine how the future places of science should be to promote the most ground-breaking discoveries and a stronger engagement with society.

There are two ways you can participate in the anniversary conference:

Submit your poster abstract and be part of the EU-Life 10th anniversary celebrations!

In the framework of the conference, EU-Life is launching a poster competition, which is open to all, but especially addressed to early-career researchers and professionals in working the interface of science and management (project managers, tech transfer officers, communications specialists, grants coordinators, HR professionals, etc.). The objective is to present initiatives that are enhancing research organisations. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

• the research places of the future;
• research culture & environment;
• research facilities & services;
• research governance;
• success stories in science (knowledge transfer, community building, etc.).

Submission and selection process:

• 15 Feb 2023: deadline to submit abstracts on EU-LIFE website
• 15 Mar 2023: communication of results
• 6-7 Jun 2023: presentation of accepted posters in EU-LIFE conference

If your poster is chosen, you will be asked to present it at the conference in a poster session on June 6th.

Essay contest: Utopia Institute of Research

Share your vision of the ideal institute of research and submit it in the form of an essay or another literary form such as a short story or a poem! 

The contest was launched on February 2nd with a deadline of March 9th. Awardees will be notified in April.

There will be prizes for the three best submissions:

• cash prize
• complementary one-year subscription to Nature
• invitation, with paid travel, to present their essays at the ‘Envisioning the research centres of the future’ conference
• The winning essay will be considered for eventual publication in Nature (probably as an interview with the author and excerpts from the essay).
