Scientific Integrity, online course

All new arrivals to Institut Curie's Research Center who have completed their Master's studies (M2) or higher are strongly encouraged to attend Scientific Integrity Training, however the session is open to all Institut Curie's personnel.

This 3-hour training session will cover aspects such as: definition of scientific integrity, different types of scientific fraud and misconduct, their frequency and consequences, and also discuss good research practices and the importance of a responsible research for science and society. Plenty of time will be left for discussion in order to discuss case studies and get feedback from the participants’ own experience.

Two sessions will be organized:

  • Group 1 (10 participants) - November 13, 2020 from 9am to 12pm, online, via Teams
  • Group 2 (10 participants) - November 13, 2020 from 9am to 12pm, online, via Teams

Objectives

Scientific integrity is defined as "the set of rules and values that must govern research activity to guarantee its honesty and scientifically rigorous character". An essential condition for maintaining the trust that society places in research stakeholders, it must be at the heart of our research activity. The objective of this course is to present the challenges of scientific integrity by discussing concrete cases asking questions relating to scientific integrity.

Discussion & Workshops

You will have a case study to read and analyze with another participant before the course. During the course, you will present this case orally, discuss the issues related to scientific integrity and propose your solutions.
